In the State of Florida, every Florida driver must have Personal Injury Protection Benefits (PIP) included in their insurance policy.

PIP is an accident entitlement of up to $10,000 to cover medical bills, loss of wage benefits, and rental car benefits.

This PIP entitlement covers you even if you are at fault in the auto or vehicle accident.

Rental car benefits will be paid while your vehicle is being repaired.

Keep in mind that the $10,000 entitlement is a maximum total regardless if you use the entitlement for lost wages, medical bills, and or rental car benefits. You do not get $10,000 in benefits for each of these items, but rather a maximum to cover all of these issues.

Additionally, if the total of your medical bills, loss of wages and rental car benefits to not reach the level of $10,000, you are not entitled to collect the balance difference. The state has also started cracking down on PIP fraudulent claims. So it is advised to keep all receipts so you can prove the amount of the entitlement you are seeking under PIP is true and accurate.

Any additional rental car funding must be secured through your auto accident civil litigation case against the at fault party or out of pocket.
